  • Spring 2019 AASCD 2.0 Online Independent Field Test Window

The Ohio Department of Education invites all districts and schools to participate in the Spring 2019 Alternate Assessment for students with Significant Cognitive Disabilities (AASCD) 2.0 online independent field test window April 15 - May 31. The AASCD 2.0 independent field test may be administered to any student who took the spring 2019 AASCD 1.0. Students who were preidentified in TIDE for the spring 2019 AASCD 1.0 are automatically preidentified for the AASCD 2.0 independent field test.

Participation in the Spring 2019 AASCD 2.0 independent field test provides districts, teachers, and students the opportunity to experience online alternate assessment testing to better prepare for next year’s Spring 2020 AASCD 2.0 online operational field test. Participation in the Spring 2019 field test is voluntary and there is no minimum number of students or schools within a district that must participate. Districts may choose to have all students who take the alternate assessment in the district participate in the field test, or only a school or classroom in the district might participate, or even just one student in the district may take the field test. The department encourages as many eligible students within a district as possible take the field test.

Test administrators begin test sessions via the TA Interface, available on the Ohio Alternate Assessment portal. Students access the online tests via the AIR Secure Browser or AIRSecureTest app, available for download from the Ohio Alternate Assessment portal

    AASCD Independent Field Test Survey

Test administrators and others are invited to submit feedback on their experience with the AASCD 2.0 independent field test. A link to the survey is available from the Ohio Alternate Assessment portal homepage. All feedback is valuable and will be used to inform future policies and procedures for AASCD online testing.

  • AASCD 2.0 Online Practice Tests Now Available

In preparation for the move towards online AASCD (2.0) testing, AIR has released online AASCD (2.0) practice tests and the AASCD Practice Test Guidance Document as of today. The AASCD 2.0 Practice Tests are available for students and administrators on the AASCD portal via the Student Practice Test Site and TA Practice Site.

The Practice Test Sites provide students and administrators the opportunity to experience the sign in process, navigate the online testing system, use the available tools and features, and familiarize themselves with online testing. For administrators, the TA Practice Site provides an opportunity for TAs to become familiar with the TA Interface, including setting up a test session and monitoring a student’s test progress.

Both the Student and TA Practice Test Sites can be accessed via any supported web browser. The Student Practice Test Site can also be accessed via the AIR Secure Browser or Secure Test App, available for download on the AASCD Secure Browsers page. For more information regarding system requirements and installing the AIR Secure Browser or Secure Test App, please refer to the Technology Resources available on the AASCD portal.

For additional questions or for assistance with accessing the AASCD 2.0 Practice Test Sites, please contact the Ohio Help Desk at ohhelpdesk@air.org, 877-231-7809 option 2.
