Recent Announcements

  • Spring 2020 AASCD Operational Field Test Window 

    As a reminder the Spring 2020 Alternate Assessment for Students with Significant Cognitive Disabilities (AASCD) Operational Field Test window opens February 18 and closes March 27. All Spring 2020 AASCD Operational Field Tests must be completed and submitted by 5:00 PM Friday, March 27.

    Please take note of the following Operational Field Test reminders: 

    • TEs and TAs who will administer the AASCD Operational Field Test must be added in TIDE. Administrators must have active TIDE accounts to be able to access the TA Interface for online and supplemental testing and the Data Entry Interface for full paper and Learning Characteristics Inventory (LCI) data entry. It is highly recommended that administrators access the TA Practice Site and practice administering a test session prior to the AASCD Operational Field Test. More information on using the TA Practice Test Site can be found in the AASCD Practice Test Guidance Document;  

    • Prior to testing, districts must ensure they have downloaded and installed the AIR Secure Browser or AIRSecureTest app on the devices the students will use to take the AASCD Operational Field Test. Students will use the AIR Secure Browser or AIRSecureTest app to access the  Student Testing Site between February 18-March 27. It is highly recommended that administrators use the AIR Secure Browser or AIRSecureTest app to access an AASCD Practice Test to experience the sign-in process, navigate the online testing system, use the available tools and features, and become familiar with online testing;  

    • Students participating in the AASCD Operational Field Test must be preidentified in TIDE for the duration of the AASCD Operational Field Test window. As a reminder, only students taking the Spring 2020 AASCD Operational Field Test should be preidentified in TIDE as eligible for the Alternate Assessment; and  

    • Districts should ensure that all TEs and TAs are made aware of which students have been assigned the LCI in TIDE. Administrators must enter student’s LCI data into the Data Entry Interface before administering the AASCD Operational Field Test to students with the LCI assignment. All LCI data must be entered into the Data Entry Interface by Friday, March 27.  

    AASCD Operational Field Test Participation Reports

    Districts must run participation reports in TIDE to confirm completion of the AASCD Operational Field Tests and data entry for the LCI. Participation reports are based on student information entered in TIDE, so it is important to ensure that AASCD student information in TIDE is up-to-date and only includes records for students that will be testing. For assistance with running participation reports please refer to the TIDE User Guide

    AASCD Operational Field Test Survey 

    We would like to invite you to submit feedback on your experience with the AASCD Operational Field Test. Starting February 18, a link to the survey will be available from the Ohio Alternate Assessment portal homepage. Your feedback is valuable and will be used to inform future policies and procedures for AASCD testing.

  • Spring 2020 AASCD Material Receipt and Administration Reminders

    Districts with approved on-time orders will receive Alternate Assessment for Students with Significant Cognitive Disabilities (AASCD) test materials today, Monday, February 3.

    Receiving On-Time Order Materials
    Districts can confirm that their on-time order requests were approved by checking their Order History in the Paper Orders AASCD Spring 2020 administration in TIDE. From the Order History, select an on-time order number and review the Approval Status column to confirm if an order was approved, partially approved or rejected.

    Only orders with a status of approved or partially approved will be delivered to districts on Monday, February 3. Districts with expected shipment quantities should check materials upon receipt, per the instructions provided in section 4.3 of the AASCD Supplemental Instructions for Paper Testing Manual. Supplemental Kits and Full Paper Kits should be distributed to test administrators in advance of the test window.

    Additional Orders
    The AASCD additional order window in TIDE is open Monday, February 3 – Wednesday, March 25 for districts to place orders at the district level only. As a reminder, the full paper version of the test is reserved for students who cannot interact with the online testing system, even with supplemental materials and assistance from the test administrator, and for grade 3 Board Resolution districts that selected paper. All districts must enter a reason for their order request in the comments field. All orders are subject to Department approval.

    Learning Characteristics Inventory (LCI) Assignments Posted
    Districts that preidentified their AASCD students in TIDE by January 16 should log into TIDE Monday, February 3, to view which students have been assigned the LCI. Directions for viewing LCI assignments can be found in the TIDE User Guide.

    The Learning Characteristics Inventory must be completed in the Data Entry Interface before the AASCD Spring 2020 Operational Field Test is administered to the student. Test administrators may access the Data Entry Interface beginning today, Monday, February 3. All LCI Assignment data must be submitted by Friday, March 27.   

    Spring 2020 AASCD Operation Field Test Administration
    The AASCD test administration will open Tuesday, February 18, and close Friday, March 27. All online and supplemental tests must be submitted and all full paper student responses entered into the Data Entry Interface by 5 p.m. on March 27, there will be no extension to the testing window.

  • Spring 2020 AASCD Manuals and Administration PowerPoint Now Available

    The spring 2020 AASCD manuals and the 2019-2020 AASCD Administration PowerPoint are now available. These and other resources can be found on the AASCD Portal under the Administration Manuals and Guidance Documents resources folder.

    The Spring 2020 AASCD Test Administration Manual (TAM) covers policies and procedures for districts and schools that are administering the AASCD. District test coordinators, building test coordinators, test administrators and teachers must review the information in this manual prior to testing.

    The Spring 2020 AASCD Supplemental Instructions for Paper Testing covers policies and procedures specific to administering the AASCD on paper. This manual is a supplement to the AASCD Test Administration Manual, which applies to students testing online and on paper. Test coordinators and test administrators testing students on paper must review the information in the Spring 2020 AASCD Supplemental Instructions for Paper Testing prior to testing.

    The 2019-2020 AASCD 2.0 Administration PowerPoint provides an overview of information regarding design of the AASCD 2.0 assessment, the policies, procedures and online systems used for the assessment, administering the assessment online, paper accommodations and more.
